How Does a Radon Sensor Work?
A radon sensor measures the radon concentration in the air by detecting the radioactive particles produced when radon decays. The amount of radiation, typically measured within a very small space, is extrapolated to a volume of 1 m³. Depending on the size and quality of the measurement chamber, radon sensors therefore need a certain amount of time to deliver accurate results – usually between 30 and 60 minutes. The results are shown on a display or can be tracked over time via an app, to help ensure that radon levels don't exceed the applicable limits.
